A man convicted of first-degree sexual assault in an incident that happened more than 11 years ago was sentenced to 192 years in prison.
Christopher Dewayne Parra, 34, was convicted in March of three counts of first-degree sexual assault with a deadly weapon and one count of second- degree kidnapping. On Tuesday a Denver jury gave him the maximum prison sentence.
Authorities say he forced his way into a Denver woman’s home in December 1998 and sexually assaulted the woman numerous times at knifepoint.
The case went unsolved until the Denver Police Department’s Cold Case Unit recently reviewed it, then found a DNA match with Parra. He was working in the oil fields in Wyoming and was arrested May 6, 2009.
