Tyler Munro has resigned his post as Rock Canyon baseball coach on the heels of the most successful season in the school’s Class 4A history.

Munro led the Jaguars to a third-place finish in the 4A state tournament and a 19-7 record this season. He told his team he was resigning after Rock Canyon was eliminated by Broomfield on May 29.

“It’s come down to family,” Munro said. “I’ve got a 5-year-old and a 16-month-old; we want to have a third child. If baseball was just a spring sport, I would be able to keep doing it, but it’s spring, summer, fall, winter. There’s just so much that adds to it.”

Munro also teaches pre-calculus at the school, and he’ll now be able to devote more time to teaching.

“After school is kind of a vital time for students,” Munro said.

Munro, a graduate of Niwot High, was in his tenth year as a head coach. He began his career as an assistant at Boulder and Fairview before moving to Florida.

Munro returned to Colorado as the head coach at Regis Jesuit from 2003-05. He was then an assistant at Heritage and Rock Canyon before taking over the Jaguars’ program.

Rock Canyon went 3-12 his first season and 12-9 last year.

“I felt like it’s been a good run in Colorado, and I’m going to see what life without baseball looks like,” Munro said.
