CASPER, Wyo.—Panhandle State’s Jordan Muncy-Taton roped a calf in 2.3 seconds to take the lead in the third round of breakaway roping at the College National Finals Rodeo on Tuesday night.
Her previous times of 2.6 seconds and 2.8 seconds give her a total of 7.7 seconds going into Saturday night’s final competition.
The Corona, N.M.,-native has been the most consistent breakaway roper at the event so far this year. She will have her third run in barrel racing on Wednesday and goat tying Thursday as she eyes the all-around title.
Zachary Hutchison of the College of Southern Idaho leads the men’s all-around category with 160 points.
Meanwhile, Gillette College’s Chelsea Moore leads the women’s all-around category with 170 points, followed by Muncy-Taton with 150 points.
