Hours after pleading guilty to kicking his dog so hard it suffered serious internal injuries, a 48-year- old Superior man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence, the Boulder Daily Camera reported.

Thomas Leurck was sentenced Thursday afternoon to 10 days in the Boulder County Jail’s work-release program and two years of probation for misdemeanor cruelty to animals.

He was also ordered to stay away from the beagle that he kicked at his Superior home Dec. 17, and not own another pet.

At 11 p.m. Thursday, the Camera reports, police arrested Leurck on suspicion of drunken driving, speeding and license plate violations.
