Denver Improv in Northfield looked like the Little Shop of Horrors on Saturday night.

James Klingensmith, a marketing guy, and his wife, Janina, went to the comedy club to see Chris Porter, their favorite guy from “Last Comic Standing.”

They settled in and ordered some drinks and nachos — but before the show began, a vein blew in Janina’s left arm where she had had surgery the day before. We’re talking blood here, Dan Aykroyd/Julia Child blood.

The couple dashed to the lobby, blood gushing, when Klingensmith called 911. Improv GM Stacey Hart grabbed the phone to give directions so Klingensmith could attend to his wife. Staffers wrapped Janina’s arm in a clean towel, a comic took off his belt and made a tourniquet on her arm. The paramedics arrived and whisked Janina off to Presbyterian St. Luke’s, where she spent the night and was released the next morning. All good.

“I’ve seen a lot in this business, but I’ve never seen a woman’s arm explode before,” Hart said. “It was definitely intense.”

“They really did save my wife’s life,” Klingensmith told me Monday. The show was a few minutes late starting — but the show must go on.

In a heartfelt thank-you letter sent Sunday to the Improv, Klingensmith added a P.S. “Sorry for the blood and skipping out on the nachos. I will be willing to make this up to you.”

Movietime

Be careful what you wish for. Under Fire Studios is making the movie “Killer Ink” in Brighton this summer, starring Peter Mayhew, a.k.a. Chewbacca from “Star Wars.”

The film begins shooting July 9. Written and directed by Lewis Leslie, according to a release, it is an “homage to the grindhouse slasher flicks of the ’70s & ’80s,” and stars local musician/actor Christopher C. Romero of “Halloween 2” and “Things to Do in Denver When You’re Dead.” He plays a tattoo artist/serial killer. “It’s been described as ‘Dexter’ meets ‘American Psycho’ ” brags the release. Yikes! Movies and rocks

Film on the Rocks, a weekly mix of a movie and a band or two at Red Rocks, is a Denver hit. Now in its 11th year, the series started June 8 with “The Hangover” and Kinetix and The Pirate Signal. It was sold out at $10 a ticket. Offers for tix on Craigslist included a $100 bid and a medical marijuana distributor who was willing to trade some weed for some tix to someone with a medical marijuana card.

Tonight they screen “Speed” with pre-flick music from Allpha Rev and The Epilogues. You can also opt to pay $60 to party big time at Big Game sports bar starting at 5 p.m. and take the party bus to Red Rocks. Wouldn’t it be cool if the bus had to maintain a speed of 50 mph all the way up and back? Tix at King Soopers and .
