Zuri Salon & Spa 3150 E. Third Ave.; 303-377-3377;
The treatment: Zuri Facial, 60 minutes, $85
This spa is for: Those who take skin care and relaxation seriously.
First impressions: On the garden level of a long-standing Cherry Creek North beauty business, the spa is a quietly refreshing space where you won’t hear the blow dryers and music going upstairs. A scenic mural decorates one wall, an aquarium another.
The treatment was: thorough. The aesthetician talked us through the process, explaining that she was starting with a lactic acid cleanser for exfoliating and hydrating, followed by a pumpkin mask (not just for the fall season, organic pumpkin has exfoliating and nourishing qualities). While letting the mask work, the technician gave a soothing upper body and arm massage. After a few other steps, including our least favorite part — extractions — and a soothing second mask, we were ready to face the world again. It was nice at a couple of points to be asked to take deep breaths when she proffered essential oil — first, relaxing lavender and, toward the end, invigorating peppermint oil.
Zuri uses products from Boulder-based Sanitas Skincare.
Amenities: Clients are offered water or tea in the sunny waiting area, then guided to dimly lit treatment rooms where soft music plays.
Room for improvement: The aesthetician offered information about other treatments the spa offers, including microdermabrasion and a skin probe, but it would also have been helpful to get suggestions on a routine for daily skin care.
Make the most of your visit: Ask for a makeup touch-up. The spa carries Colorescience products, a mineral-based line that won’t clog freshly cleansed pores.
Repeat visit planned? Yes, for a specialty facial, and if we get adventurous, the skin probe.
Know before you go: Parking is available in the lot next to salon. Ask about specials, which are listed on the website, or advertised via e-mail.
