MONTROSE, Colo.—An economic development group is calling on members of Colorado’s congressional delegation to help save a sawmill in western Colorado.

A sawmill owned by Intermountain Resources LLC in Montrose has been under receivership since June 7. The mill is only processing timber already on the lot.

The Montrose Economic Development Corp. is talking to the receiver in hopes of retaining the mill.

The group also plans to contact Colorado Sens. Mark Udall and Mike Bennet and U.S. Rep. John Salazar, whose district includes Montrose.

Intermountain Resources is the largest of three Western Slope lumber mills and was expected to play a role in a $30 million effort to take in beetle-infested pine and spruce trees from national forests in Colorado.
