Unlikely as it is that archaeologist Howard Carter did the Charleston as a “happy dance” after opening the door to King Tut’s tomb in 1922 — the height of the Roaring ’20s — it seemed pretty cool to have a Flappers & Pharaohs Bash to mark the opening of “Tutankhamun: The Golden King and the Great Pharaohs” at the Denver Art Museum. Cowboy hats and boots were the dress of choice at Crooked Willow Farms in Larkspur when friends of the Children’s Hospital Foundation gathered for the Giddy-Up Gala, a chuck-wagon supper, auction and Lee Ann Womack concert that raised money for research and patient services. Joanne Davidson writes more about these fundraisers in her Seen First blog: blogs.denver .
