DENVER—The Colorado Rockies have recalled outfielder Dexter Fowler from Triple-A Colorado Springs to take infielder Chris Nelson’s spot on the active roster.
Fowler was expected to play for Colorado at San Diego Tuesday night.
Nelson was optioned to Colorado Springs.
The 24-year-old Fowler hit .217 (30-for-138) with five doubles, three triples, one home run and four RBI in 46 games for the Rockies earlier this season.
The 24-year-old Nelson went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in his first stint at the Major League level. He made one start with the Rockies, at third base, on June 22 against Boston. Colorado drafted him in the first round in 2004.
