This is a time when I am to say goodbye to many things. Goodbye to my teachers who have made a difference. Goodbye to my friends who are going their own ways. And goodbye to a school that has been my home for four years. Well I would like to take this opportunity to say hello to the world.
But before I can say that I am part of the world I live in I would like to define this world. I believe that we live in a world ruled by facts and reason as judged by the conscious, justified human being. I believe that the greatest measure of a man’s ability in this world is by the capacity of his mind to think, his body to produce, and his spirit to love that which he possesses.
I believe that hard work alone can produce many things but when paired with ingenuity, the two can transform the everyday life into the extraordinary life. And I believe that the greatest and only crime in this life is theft.
Theft is taking that which one does not own. Murder is theft of life, a lie is theft of the truth, debt is theft of future, and liberal politics is theft of ability. I plan to be a very successful man in the near future. I plan to make a lot of money. And I should have every right to do so without worry of my produce being stolen from me by the entity that was established to protect me.
Governments are put in place to protect their inhabitants from theft. In this manner they protect from foreign invaders and domestic thieves. It is then quite humorous that the present day government takes part in the robbery.
The government takes more from those who make, produce, and have than those who sit, wait, and beg. That is theft of ability. The government mandates that I must purchase a suitable product with my own money. That is theft of choice. The government allows for unborn children to be abandoned. That is theft of life. The government does not secure my borders and allows for illegal aliens to take American jobs and harm the economy. That is theft of opportunity.
And the government decided to use taxpayer dollars to back unsuitable sup-prime loans so that everyone could own a home, suddenly the housing market tanked and ruined the economy. That is theft of prosperity. I could continue for a long time but I think I’ve made my point.
I hope to join a world where ability, ideas, and reason are king. Where the measure of a man is in the tangible products of his labor and love and not in his alliances to the men who live for controlling other’s lives. I am a firm believer in the charity from a human heart not from the handouts of a government. I believe that I should give a naked man the shirt off my back, not give the shirt to the government so they can give him a handkerchief. I want to join a world that punishes thieves, not one that is ruled by thieves. If these beliefs make me conservative than that is what I am. If this makes me “right” then I am more than fine with that.
When I entered Ponderosa I had no idea about any aspect of this world, but as I leave I am proud and confident in my beliefs. I would like to thank PHS for being the place in which I have grown into the person I wish to be. Goodbye high school, hello world.
