ASPEN, Colo.—Two people were hurt during an Aspen fireworks show when a platform collapsed at the top of Aspen Mountain.
Authorities say one of the people had to be hospitalized after the unloading platform at the top of a chairlift collapsed at about 9:30 p.m. Sunday during the fireworks show.
The Pitkin County Sheriff’s Office said six people were on the platform but released few other details. The hospitalized victim’s injuries were described only as “non-life-threatening.”
Sheriff’s Office Patrol Director Ann Stephenson said the lift wasn’t running, but the six people walked to the top of the mountain for a better view. An employee at the Aspen Skiing Co., which owns the platform, didn’t comment Monday.
