As summer temperatures climb, Denver’s frozen yogurt competition heats up. Here’s a look at three new players on the fro-yo scene.
Sweet Rush Yogurt
2275 S. Peoria St., Aurora, 720-226-7694, .
Hours: Open seven days, 11 a.m.-9 p.m.
Signature flavors: Try the popular cake batter, non-fat original tart or the eight calorie-an- ounce triple chocolate fudge for starters. But every five to 10 days, old flavors are traded for new, so get ready to be adventurous.
Number of flavors: 8, plus swirls.
Toppings: More than 40, including Snickers, mochi, Cap’n Crunch and Raisinets.
The yogurt: Soft-serve, self- serve and pastel-colored. Options available for diabetics, lactose-intolerants and the diet-obsessed.
The vibe: Trendy meets traditional. Walk inside this locally owned shop, and its green and cream-colored tile floor will make you feel like you’ve stepped into a mid-century ice cream parlor. Only this one serves frozen yogurt. Sit down and watch the Rockies’ game or listen to the soft rock music playing in the background while you finish your yogurt.
Best for: An after summer- camp snack, family-bonding time or cooling off from a hot Colorado day. Some summer customers even go there to replace dinner.
Price: Fill a disposable cup with as much frozen yogurt as you want, all for 34 cents an ounce.
Cherry on Top
Cherry Creek Shopping Center, 3000 E. First Ave., Suite 106, 303-780-0007,

Toppings: More than 50, including mochi, Pop Rocks candy clusters and brownie bites.
The yogurt: Soft-serve, self-serve. Bright and pastel-colored flavors. No-sugar added and non-dairy options available.
The vibe: Loud, crowded and open. Nestled in between Renzios Greek Food and Cinnabon, this shop is laid out to face shoppers as they pass by. Enjoy the mall’s 1990s throwback music while you’re serving yourself an unlimited amount of frozen yogurt and toppings.
Best for: Shoppers in need of fuel.
Price: 44 cents an ounce.
