A Walmart truck driver from Nebraska was named the best trucker in Colorado after triumphing over 120 drivers in the state competition at the Adams County Fairgrounds last month.
Randy Pehrson of Gering will be among nine competitors in the Colorado Motor Carriers Association’s Truck Driving Championships who advanced to the national competition starting Aug. 3 in Columbus, Ohio.
Pehrson won one event and had the highest overall score in the eight other driving categories at the state competition. The others advancing to the national finals are John Lopez of Highlands Ranch, Shaun Flageolle of Brighton, Gary Plant of Windsor, Jeff Roby of Windsor, Weldon Runnels of Loveland, Dennis Stelk of Thornton, David Mogler of Brighton and Renee Evans of Fort Lupton.
