A man who allegedly killed his wife and then attempted to burn down their house — Charles “Dave” Fisher III — was charged today with first-degree murder and first-degree arson by Adams County District Attorney Don Quick.
The body of the woman, 30-year-old Belinda Fisher, was discovered by firefighters Saturday night when they went to the couple’s home in the 11000 block of Locust Street in Thornton.
Neighbors had noticed the noise of a smoke alarm and saw fire in the house.
Belinda Fisher worked at St. Anthony Hospital as a surgical medic. Her husband, a former Marine reservist, worked with computers for ap, parent company of The Denver Post.
In an arrest affidavit obtained by 9News, Fisher said he was having issues at work and thought he was close to losing his job. He also said he was feeling stress about the online courses he was taking from Metropolitan State College in Denver, according to the affidavit.
Fisher told police he shot his wife after she returned from a movie.
Adams County coroner James Hibbard said an autopsy showed Belinda Fisher was shot multiple times throughout her body.
