To celebrate the 135th birthday of Dr. Mary McLeod Bethune, founder of the National Council of Negro Women, the council’s Denver chapter hosted a tea and authors’ forum at the Blair-Caldwell African American Research Library. Theater-lovers belonging to the Marquee Club celebrated in advance of the Oct. 1 opening of Bram Stoker’s “Dracula” at The Stage theater in the Denver Performing Arts Complex when they met for cocktails in the Peaks Lounge on the 27th floor of the Hyatt Regency Convention Center. And, Mi Casa Resource Center, which raised $31,000 at its recent Be Anything luncheon and silent auction, is celebrating its receipt of the Family Strengthening Award given by the National Council of La Raza.
