ST. PAUL, Minn.—For the second year, Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty is making a July trek to the Aspen Institute in Colorado—this time as a panelist with other GOP governors.

A spokesman said Pawlenty heads West on Wednesday and will be in Colorado through Friday. His docket includes appearances at Republican gatherings and a large party dinner.

Thursday features a panel discussion at the Aspen think tank with Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, Hawaii Gov. Linda Lingle and Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell. Pawlenty and Barbour are said to be considering presidential campaigns in 2012.

Pawlenty adviser Alex Conant says Pawlenty sees opportunities for electoral pickups in Colorado and hopes to lend a hand.

Pawlenty was in Colorado twice last summer.
