A remote fire in Garfield County has consumed more than 800 acres, but so far no homes, campgrounds or private property are threatened, the U.S. Forest Service said Sunday.
The Meadow Creek fire is burning along the upper slope of Hadley Point in the White River National Forest.
Heavy smoke is expected for the next three days along Main and East Elk creeks and in the New Castle area, the Forest Service stated.
