Further evidence of the Rockies’ concern about Brad Hawpe emerged Tuesday. Right-hander Josh Johnson started, but Hawpe did not. He walked in the seventh inning as a pinch hitter but is fighting a 1-for-13 slump. Said manager Jim Tracy: “Let’s face it: We are trying to get Brad Hawpe right. He’s not right. I will be trying to find situations that make sense for him (in the game).”

Jason Giambi showed off wheels and smarts in the sixth inning, stealing his second base of the season when Johnson forgot about him.

Ian Stewart continues to flex his muscles on the road. He hit his 10th home run in a visiting park, but he has just three at Coors Field.
