Firefighters were called to a fire that broke out in a garage early this morning and spread to another house in a Colorado Springs neighborhood.

No one was hurt in the fire as several residents were evacuated safely, said Lt. James Eddy of the Colorado Spring Fire Department.

About 35 firefighters and rescue workers and four engines from two departments were called at 3:20 a.m. to a home at 4531 Frost Drive, Eddy said.

Fire was contained to the garage in one house, but the flames spread to a home next door, igniting the siding and burning an electrical box, leaving the home without electricity, he said.

Firefighters had the flames extinguished in only about 10 minutes. The cause of the fire is under investigation, Eddy said.
