In his 14th year of competing in the sportsman division at Colorado National Speedway, the 41-year-old Blackard is in position to win his first track championship. The Lakewood resident has finished in the top three in all seven races this year, with two wins, four seconds and a third-place result. “This is the best start we’ve ever had,” Blackard said. “We just have to keep the focus and keep having fun. That’s what it’s all about. We have a good, strong team developing.”
