
Burro birthday
Today. The Western Museum of Mining and Industry honors its favorite donkeys — aptly named Oro and Nugget — with a day-long bluegrass festival. Visitors are invited to tote along their own chairs for an outdoor listening event that includes food, refreshments, museum tours and of course, birthday cake. Festivities are from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Tickets: $6-$12; children under 12 and museum members are free. The museum is located at 225 North Gate Blvd., Colorado Springs. Foothills festival
Sunday. The Buffalo Bill Grave & Museum hosts the seventh annual Mountain Melodies Music Festival, an event that highlights established and emerging local artists. This year’s festival features Halden Wofford and the Hi-Beams; the cowgirl bluegrass band Giddyup Kitty; Martin Gilmore and Angie Lucht; and the old-time string band Virginia Dale Polecats.
