Dexter Fowler returned from a three-game absence because of sore left ribs and made an immediate impact. The center fielder doubled in the third inning, scoring Clint Barmes. The Rockies are 19-9 when Fowler hits leadoff.

Sound of music.

The Rockies were a bit unnerved when no players had Madonna on their iPods or iPads to rock the clubhouse before the game. She has become a favorite before home games. They settled for Lionel Richie’s “Dancing on the Ceiling.” Said Jason Giambi, “Madonna comes with it.”

Hammer time.

Jason Hammel has become dependable. He averages more than 6 1/3 innings per start, second only to Ubaldo Jimenez on the staff.
