Making a move to a large, low-maintenance ranch is easier than it looks; Luau party on tap at Anthem Ranch

Getting your player ready...

How hard is it in this market to unload your old place and all of its chores, in favor of a new ranch with plenty of room and none of the hassles? Not hard at all, Bob and Suzanne Wiederrich found out. They’re headed out of their multilevel on two acres near Boulder (it sold last month) for a home in Anthem Ranch that’ll be done this fall.

“They all selling faster than people think they will,” says Anthem Ranch’s David Foster, now tracking about ten sales a month in the Broomfield community, most of them to Denver couples who’ll be staying close to grandkids and their network of friends. For a number of them, Foster adds, the re-sale closes before the new home is done…meaning a couple of weeks at the Marriott in between.

The Wiederrichs will need to do just that. Though their old place was priced in the $700s, in the higher, slower range of the market, it was gone in six months. Bob Wiederrich will retire from IBM as well as from his tractor mower; the couples’ new 2,800-foot Aspen ranch, backing to open space close to the Aspen Lodge community center, has plenty of basement for future finish. He’s planning on giving fishing lessons to grandkids Kira, Kaelyn and Conner in Anthem Ranch’s stocked pond (their son and daughter-in-law are moving a mile east, to Anthem Highlands)…and she’s planning to golf with ‘Niners-to-Diners,’ one of 50 clubs that have popped up among Anthem Ranch residents.

You can take your time planning your own move (Bob and Suzanne Wiederrich took five years: they attended original meetings hosted by developer Del Webb, and visited a Del Webb community in Arizona before opting in)…or you can move fast. In addition to those ranch sites being released today, Anthem Ranch has an Arapahoe ranch ready for move in, at only $298,790. And either way, you can be part of the fun two weekends from now, Saturday, Aug. 21, when Anthem Ranch holds its annual Luau party, 2-5 p.m., with entertainment, Island treats and tropical beverages…along with a chance to talk with the locals.

The Wiederrichs will be there (already planning some travelling) along with Foster and other Anthem Ranch sales consultants. You’ll see Aspen Lodge with its pools and fitness center, the great views of the back ranges behind Boulder, and 48 miles of walking and biking trails (the monthly HOA fee for all that is now $156).

Take I-25 north just past 470 to Highway 7, then west three miles to Lowell. Turn south, past the visitor center, to the first right on Anthem Ranch Road, two blocks to the models.
