Colorado is one of 13 states hosting events during the inaugural Roadless Recreation Week, running through Sunday.

Supported by the Colorado Mountain Club, the event is designed to highlight the importance of the state’s roadless areas as a home for wildlife and a haven for outdoor recreation.

Hiking, mountain biking, fishing and floating trips are planned in roadless areas across the state just as the Tenth Circuit Court of Appeals prepares to issue a decision about the national Roadless Area Conservation Rule enacted by the Clinton administration in 2001.

The rule has been the subject of conflicting court decisions over the past decade.

Info: has a schedule of activities.
