COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—USA Wrestling has named Oklahoma State’s John Smith and Iowa’s Terry Brands as coaches of the 2010 U.S. freestyle world team.

Smith and Brands will work with USA Wrestling national freestyle coach Zeke Jones of Colorado Springs and the national coaching staff to lead the team that will compete in the world championships in Moscow in September.

Both Brands and Smith have coached past U.S. world and Olympic teams in freestyle wrestling and are members of the National Wrestling Hall of Fame.

Smith won Olympic gold medals in 1988 and 1992 and four world titles. He has been Oklahoma State’s head coach for 19 years. Brands, an assistant coach at Iowa, has won two world titles and an Olympic bronze medal in 2000.
