Knous’ 60 not enough to beat Clark.
Wyndham Clark of Cherry Hills Country Club became the youngest winner of the Colorado Golf Association’s Stroke Play Championship since 1971 when he made a 30-foot birdie putt and defeated Colorado Mines golfer Jim Knous on the second playoff hole at Boulder Country Club.
Knous started the day 10 strokes out of the lead but overtook 11 of the 12 of the players in front of him to advance to a playoff. The Basalt High School graduate shot a final-round, 10-under-par 60 — breaking the course record by two shots.
Clark’s age is 16 years, 8 months. Bob Byman of Boulder won the 1971 Stroke Play Championship before he was 16 1/2.
