JEFFERSON COUNTY — A 14-year-old girl suffered minor injuries Monday afternoon when lightning struck while she was washing a vehicle in her driveway.
Savannah Vowers said she was cleaning her mother’s truck just after noon when she saw a big flash and felt pain through her arm and elbow.
“It really, really hurt in my elbow. It felt like my bones were just crunching,” she told 9News. “I fell backward and stumbled backward and fell down, and I just started crying.”
She said she was covered in water and standing in water when the lightning struck at her home near West Coal Mine Avenue and South Van Gordon Way near the Ken Caryl area.
