COMMERCE CITY, Colo.—The Colorado Rapids have signed their first homegrown player.
The club announced Monday that 18-year-old midfielder Davy Armstrong is joining the team.
The Aurora teen trained with the Rapids’ first team for several weeks this summer.
He joined the Rapids’ youth system in 2007 and was named the Colorado state player of the year in 2008.
Armstrong attended Rangeview High School and was the all-time scoring and assist leader there.
