CLARKSVILLE, Tenn.—Former Austin Peay lefthanded pitcher Matt Reynolds has been called up to the major leagues by the Colorado Rockies.

Reynolds, a 20th round selection in the 2007 draft, was 1-3 with a 2.62 ERA and seven saves and holds in 50 games with the AAA Colorado Springs SkySox.

The move came after the Rockies released right fielder Brad Hawpe, a one-time star at Louisiana State University.

There are 11 former Govs playing professionally, and Reynolds joins Shawn Kelley of the Seattle Mariners and Los Angeles Dodgers teammates George Sherrill and A.J. Ellis in the big leagues.
