DENVER—A doctor who stabbed a nurse while he was a patient at a hospital in Lone Tree will not face criminal charges.
Prosecutors said Friday that 53-year-old Grady Michael Holder was not criminally responsible for the stabbing Feb. 13 because of his mental state. At the time, Holder was in the intensive care unit at Sky Ridge Medical Center for alcohol abuse and was being treated for a medical condition. Prosecutors say medical treatment and his condition altered his mental state.
Holder had faced charges of attempted murder, menacing and second-degree assault in the attack on Brenda Tate, who was stabbed three times in the upper arm with a knife. An arrest affidavit alleged Holder had summoned Tate to his room on a request for medication.
