DENVER—Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack is visiting a Denver elementary school to talk about improving the quality and availability of school lunches.
Vilsack will be at Centennial Elementary School on Thursday. He’ll be accompanied by Colorado Agriculture Commissioner John Stulp and Denver School Superintendent Tom Boasberg.
Congress is considering legislation to change the Child Nutrition Act, which authorizes national programs for school lunches, school breakfasts and summer food service.
The Department of Agriculture says the programs serve nearly 32 million children each school day.
