LAKEWOOD — A liquor-store clerk who pleaded guilty to selling alcohol to teens before a fatal car crash in 2007 was sentenced to 3 1/2 years in jail Monday for selling beer to an undercover police volunteer in April.
Van Thien Pham, 47, of Westminster, was prohibited from working in a liquor store as part of his plea agreement in the 2007 case. However, prosecutors said he was working at Alameda Square Liquors, owned by his wife, on April 14, and sold a bottle of Corona to an underaged Police Explorer.
In 2008, Pham pleaded guilty to providing liquor to a minor and was sentenced to two years in jail and three years of probation with conditions.
Pham was accused of selling liquor to then-17-year-old Nanette LaFleur and other teens in March 2007 before LeFleur crashed into another car near Green Mountain, killing 17-year-old Samara Stricklen and badly injuring the car’s driver, 20-year-old Seth Mutschler. LaFleur was sentenced to 12 years in prison after pleading guilty to vehicular homicide.
