A man’s body was found face down in a Denver park this morning.

Police received a call at 7 a.m. about the body, and the first officers on the scene determined that the man was dead, said Lt. Matt Murray, a Denver Police Department spokesman.

“Indications are that it’s possibly a homicide and we are treating it as such,” Murray said.

Murray declined to disclose further details about the discovery, citing the ongoing investigation.

The body was found in La Alma Park, 1326 W. 11th Ave., near a city recreation center, Murray said. Police did not receive any calls overnight about shots fired or any type of disturbance in the area, Murray said.

The coroner’s office will perform an autopsy and release a cause of death, as well as the man’s identity.
