WASHINGTON—A new report says the nation’s capital has the worst drivers in the country, followed by Baltimore.
According to Allstate’s Best Drivers Report, Washington came in last, for the third year in a row. D.C. drivers get into a collision on an average of about once every five years, and have a 95.5 percent higher chance of being in an accident than the average American motorist.
The report listed Baltimore as the second-worst city for drivers, for the second consecutive year. Its drivers are in a crash about every five and a half years and have a 79.4 percent higher chance of being in an accident.
Fort Collins, Colo., was named this year’s “Safest Driving City,” with the average driver there getting in a crash about every 14 and a half years. That’s about 31 percent less likely than the national average.
