LONGMONT — After spotting crosstown rival Skyline a 14-0 lead, No. 3 Longmont roared back to win 29-14 and even its record at 1-1.

Longmont running back Darian Finley Garcia finished with 118 yards on 13 carries, while Cameron Herbert had 70 yards rushing, including a 60-yard TD run to take a 20-14 lead in the second quarter.

Denver East 48, Eaglecrest 7

The only thing more impressive than Denver East’s offense in the Angels’ victory over Eaglecrest was its defense.

East held Eaglecrest to just 97 yards of total offense, and put up points of its own on Evan Bledsoe’s 17-yard interception return.

Isaiah Hendrix had two rushing scores for East, while Shahid Hoover added 113 yards and a touchdown on the ground. Kiko Grimes caught a score for the Angels, who were up 34-0 at the half.

Fairview 38, Poudre 21

FORT COLLINS — Ben Meyer ran for three touchdowns, and the Knights exploded for 24 third-quarter points after trailing 14-7 at halftime to beat a former Front Range League opponent in a nonleague game.

Lakewood 29, Heritage 22

LITTLETON — Ryan Novak threw three touchdown passes and the Tigers scored the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter to spoil last year’s 4A state champions’ move up to 5A.

KSA event

Colorado schools went 3-2 at the KSA football games. Cherry Creek beat West Orange (Fla.) 31-28, and Mountain Vista topped Celebration (Fla.) 37-19, but Overland fell to Satellite (Fla.) 35-14 and Smoky Hill was shut out by Oak Ridge (Fla.) 38-0. Legacy beat Chaminade-Madonna 26-23 on Thursday night.
