EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. — Vikings receiver Percy Harvin has been diagnosed with sleep apnea, a disorder that causes temporary breathing stoppages during sleep.
Told of his frequent trouble getting a good night’s sleep, Harvin’s doctors decided to test for the condition. They determined it as a trigger of the debilitating migraine symptoms that have dogged him for years.
Harvin now uses a breathing machine while he sleeps, with a mask placed over his nose, and he said he hasn’t had a migraine since being hospitalized Aug. 19.
“It’s a 100 percent difference,” Harvin said Monday. “I’m not waking up groggy. I’m waking up feeling refreshed and ready to go. So like I said, hopefully that’s it.”
Jets’ antics under scrutiny
NEW YORK — The Jets are being investigated by the NFL for the way players and coaches carried on when they were visited by a female reporter from a Mexican TV network during the team’s practice Saturday.
Ines Sainz, of Mexico’s TV Azteca, said on her Twitter account Saturday she felt “very uncomfortable!” in the Jets’ locker room, where a few players let loose with some “Whooo-weee!” catcalls as she waited with two male co-workers to interview quarterback Mark Sanchez.
Footnotes.
Lions quarterback Matthew Stafford does not appear to need surgery on his throwing shoulder, though there was no word on his availability for Sunday’s game against the Eagles.
• The Eagles placed Pro Bowl fullback Leonard Weaver (knee) and center Jamaal Jackson (triceps) on injured reserve, ending their seasons.
• Seahawks starting right guard Max Unger is likely out for Sunday’s game at Denver after suffering a toe injury in the season opener. Linebacker Leroy Hill is expected to play after serving a one-game suspension.
• Packers defensive lineman Justin Harrell will miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, and running back Ryan Grant will miss at least one game with an ankle injury.
• Bills linebacker Paul Posluszny will miss about three weeks because of a knee injury.
