YouTube is testing a live streaming system, potentially opening up a new source of content and advertising for the company. The two-day experiment began Monday with four broadcasting partners, YouTube said in a blog posting.
“Based on the results of this initial test, we’ll evaluate rolling out the platform more broadly to our partners worldwide,” the video-sharing site said.
Online video is growing in popularity with sites such as YouTube that let users upload videos for free. YouTube’s live streaming service faces competition from companies such as UStream, and Livestream. Bloomberg News
