A self-professed “cage match fighter” suspected of domestic violence got into a row with several police officers at an upscale Aspen hotel before being Tasered, subdued and arrested.

The incident happened about 12:30 a.m. Monday at the St. Moritz Lodge, 334 W. Hyman Ave., according to the Aspen Police Department.

Charles Brandon White, 28, of Oregon, was arrested on suspicion of domestic violence, assault and interference with police, among other charges, a police media release said.

Officers responded to a domestic violence report at the lodge and had arrested White when he became combative, police said.

“Additional officers were dispatched to the scene to assist,” police said. “White’s violent behavior compelled officers to use a Taser in the process of gaining his compliance.”

Several officers suffered minor injuries in the process.

White told arresting officers he is a cage fighter.

“This type of violent incident is unusual,” said Sgt. Mike Tracey, “and we take every precaution to protect the victim, citizens in the area, the arrestee and ourselves.”

After being subdued, White was taken to the Aspen Valley Hospital for medical evaluation “out of concern for his welfare and due to his violent conduct.”

He is being held at the Pitkin County Jail awaiting advisement of the charges against him, police said.
