The Denver Metro Chamber of Commerce unveiled a new motto, ushered in a new chairman and honored philanthropist Daniel Ritchie on Wednesday.

Incoming chairman William Lindsay III, president of the Benefit Group of the Lockton Cos., said the chamber will continue its emphasis on assisting small and medium-size businesses and bringing jobs to the region. He also promised a spirited fight to defeat three ballot measures that would limit tax and bonding powers — Amendments 60 and 61 and Proposition 101.

“Any of these measures, if enacted, will ruin our economy and will wreck our plans for economic recovery,” Lindsay told a crowd of 800 gathered at the Hyatt Regency Denver for the chamber’s annual luncheon meeting.

The chamber also rolled out a new “You Matter” campaign to recruit and retain companies.

Ritchie, chairman and chief executive of the Denver Center for the Performing Arts, received the 2010 Del Hock Lifetime Achievement Award. Ritchie is best known for his work to revive the University of Denver. Aldo Svaldi, The Denver Post
