COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo.—Authorities say a civilian helicopter has crashed about a mile below the summit of Pikes Peak, injuring three people.

The crash was reported at about 7:30 a.m. on Friday.

The Federal Aviation Administration says a helicopter is en route to take the injured to a hospital.

Authorities initially said two people were hurt but later revised that to three. El Paso County Sheriff’s Lt. Lari Sevene (LAHR’-ee suh-VEEN’) says at least one person had critical injuries.

Sevene says the cause of the crash is unknown.

Pikes Peak is Colorado’s 31st-highest mountain at 14,110 feet above sea level.

A spokesman for German automaker Audi says the helicopter was carrying a crew that was filming a driverless Audi on the road to the summit of the mountain.
