For the first time in its 63-year history, the Motocross de Nations event takes place on American soil in Lakewood. The Motocross des Nations features three riders from each of the top 30 countries in the world, with each nation contesting the MX1 (450cc), MX2 (250cc), and MX3 (open) categories.

Today’s events begin at 1 p.m. at Thunder Valley Motocross Park in Lakewood.

With 20 total wins and a current five-year winning streak, the United States has positioned itself for another strong finish after AMA Motocross champion Trey Canard qualified first in the MX2 (250cc class) on Saturday.

“It’s a special thing riding for your country, especially with this year’s race here in America,” said Canard, a huge crowd favorite. “You can hear the fans and feel the energy. Usually you go to races and the fans are there to cheer for several different riders, but here just about everyone is rooting for Team USA. It’s a pretty cool feeling.”
