DENVER—The Lakewood office of an Interior Department agency touched by a sex-and-drugs scandal is getting a new name.
The Minerals Revenue Management office is a federal program within the former Minerals Management Service, now called the Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement.
The Lakewood office is in charge of collecting oil and gas royalties. It was tainted after Interior Department investigators found close ties to contractors, drug use and sexual misconduct among some employees.
The Denver Post reports that on Friday, the Minerals Revenue Management office will be renamed the Office of Natural Resources Revenue. Officials hope the transition will close the scandal, which resulted in new safeguards against misconduct.
