Hard to believe that life with Jim Carrey would be anything but a barrel of laughs, but Jenny McCarthy says that wasn’t the case.
Quiet about her relationship with Carrey since their breakup in April, McCarthy gave her side of the story yesterday on “The Oprah Winfrey Show.”
“When it’s not fun anymore, you need to start investigating and do an inquiry into the relationship,” the actress and author says in an excerpt that was released this week.
McCarthy, mother of son Evan, 8, spent about three years with Carrey. She insists to Oprah Winfrey she wasn’t caught up in the identity of being the girlfriend of a major celebrity, even though she enjoys her own amount of celebrity.
“I did check on that, by the way,” she says. “I checked into myself (and) my ego’s fine. I’m a warrior mom. I always got back on my feet, and I know especially this year who I am.”
But life goes on for the 37-year-old actress who says she’s enjoying life but not looking to jump into anything too serious.
Back in May, a month after her split with Carrey, Jenny was pictured making out with an unidentified man in Las Vegas.
She tweeted about the photo: ‘Yes, I kissed a mystery man in Vegas’.
Oprah asked her about the man, to which Jenny replied: ‘I have been… diet dating. I’m not taking anything too serious right now.

George Lopez and wife, Ann, are pulling the plug on their 17-year marriage.
According to TMZ, the couple came to a mutual decision to go their separate ways and have been working out details of their split “for a long time.”
Lopez’s rep has also confirmed the news, telling USA Today, “The decision is amicable and by mutual agreement. They remain dedicated parents, and committed partners in business and their philanthropic organization, The Lopez Foundation.”
The talk show host, 49, and Ann are parents to a 15-year-old daughter, Mayan.
