The man who was fatally shot in Denver on Sept. 11 has now been identified.

The Denver coroner’s office said the man is 33-year-old Kenneth Nwachukwu, from Northglenn, and said his death was a homicide.

Police responded at about 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 11 to a report of gunshots being fired in the 5000 block of Alcott Street in Denver. They found Nwachukwu who was pronounced dead on scene.

Police later arrested Lance Cook, 40, who was being held in Denver Jail as a suspect in the investigation.

Police have not released a motive in the case, which is now being reviewed by the district attorney’s office.

The coroner’s office said the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the head. Nwachukwu’s family was notified in Nigeria.
