WASHINGTON — Arab-Americans, once considered a political swing group, are now solidly Democratic, according to a poll released Monday.
The survey conducted for the Arab American Institute by Zogby International indicates that Arab-Americans prefer Democratic candidates in the Nov. 2 midterm elections and that they overwhelmingly favor a Democrat-controlled Congress.
The survey found that the controversy over the proposed New York mosque and community center reinforced Arab-Americans’ Democratic leanings because many critics of the plan were Republicans.
