Every year, approximately 20,000 people are annihilated in Colorado through surgical abortion. Tens of thousands more are killed through chemical abortions, often unbeknownst to mothers who are tricked into thinking that their commonly used forms of “birth control” do not kill a developing human being. Many more developing humans perish at the hands of researchers seeking panaceas that never materialize.

Twenty-thousand people is enough to fill the Pepsi Center. Twenty-thousand people with little arms and legs, eyes and ears, eyelashes and fingernails, and rapidly beating hearts are exterminated.

“Reasonable people disagree on when human life begins,” says the Denver Post editorial board. No, reasonable people disagree as to how much value human beings have at different stages in their development. The Denver Post and the multibillion-dollar abortion industry conveniently state that human beings in the womb may not be human beings at all — denying basic embryology and human development.

Amendment 62 stands for the revolutionary — in the manner of 1776 — proposition that all human beings are created equal and are endowed by their Creator, not the government or the Supreme Court, with inalienable rights such as the right to life, due process of law, and equality of justice. Amendment 62 loves all human life with a wild abandon; the opposition loves power of the developed over the developing human being with a fierce defiance of science, reason and humanitarianism.

Opponents of Amendment 62 state that most medical, legal and community organizations oppose it. What they don’t state is that those same organizations have openly pro-abortion platforms, and most would support the killing of a child in the womb for any reason at any point until the moment of birth.

Opponents of Amendment 62 use several scare tactics to keep the people in perpetual sheepish conformity with the powerful abortion industry. They paint dystopian pictures of women being investigated for miscarriages, doctors prosecuted for performing life-saving procedures, and legal nightmares. We might as well believe that war is peace, freedom is slavery, and ignorance is strength.

The truth about Amendment 62 is that Colorado has a long history of being a pro-life state, and no nightmare scenarios have ever occurred. The opposition does not want people to know that from 1861, when Colorado was not yet a state but a territory, until 1967, Colorado actually banned all abortions.

The law for over 100 years read that the “administration of substance or liquid” or the use of “any instrument, of whatsoever kind with the intention to procure the miscarriage of any woman then being with child” was punishable as a felony. There is not a single recorded case of a prosecution for an unintentional miscarriage, not a single prosecution for a doctor who performed a lifesaving procedure on the mom and lost the child, not a single case of any of the scare tactics.

The Denver Post editorial board writes that Amendment 62 would define “a fertilized human egg as a ‘person,’ ” and yet nowhere in the text of the amendment are the words “fertilized egg” present. Indeed, the term “fertilized egg” is a form of hate speech towards developing human beings, and it is utterly dehumanizing. It is our responsibility to stop the killing, and stop dehumanizing the most defenseless human beings.

Abraham Lincoln quoted scripture in his second inaugural address when he said, “Woe unto the world because of offenses; for it must needs be that offenses come, but woe to that man by whom the offense cometh.” Let no one forsake the innocent. Vote “yes” on Amendment 62.
