LONDON — An inquiry into the 2005 London suicide bombings opened Monday, with victims’ family members reliving their nightmares as details poured out about the slow response to the attacks, confusion on the ground and how the bombers were seen laughing as they traveled to the city to commit mass murder.
Some relatives of the 52 commuters slain on July 7, 2005, wept in court as they heard conversations recorded just after the explosions in which confused London Underground staff struggled to grasp the scale of the attacks.
