Kayla Coleman would forgive the person who killed her older sister if she knew who it was.

“I feel the forgiveness,” Coleman said. “Because I know she wouldn’t be able to feel hate.”

Chantila Wooten, 24, was found dead in her apartment at 1931 Clinton St. in Aurora last Friday.

Aurora Police are now offering a reward of up to $2,500 for information that can help solve the murder.

An autopsy by the Adams County coroner determined she died as a result of “sharp force trauma.”

Bob Friel, a spokesman for the Aurora Police said the investigation is “in a fragile place” and no other information can be released at this point.

Coleman said during a press conference today asking for the public’s help, that she hopes anyone who knows anything will contact police to help find justice.

“It’s not going to heal us, but it’s going to give us a little bit of peace,” she said.

Wooten, who grew up in Denver and graduated from Manual High School was described by family members as a woman who always smiled and wanted to give back.

“She always listened to other people. Never really said anything about her problems,” said uncle Brian Johnson.

If she could talk to the person who took Wooten’s life, Coleman said she would ask them to come forward and stop hurting themselves.

“Don’t let it eat you up inside,” she said. “Just put yourself in my position.”

Coleman believes her sister’s killer was someone that knew Wooten.

“It had to be someone she knew. She was very trusting,” Coleman said.”Her heart was too big, I wish I had a piece of it.”

A candlelight vigil will be held for Wooten at 7 p.m. Friday behind the apartment, at 1931 Clinton St. where her body was found.

An account has been set up in Wooten’s name at U.S. Bank for donations.
