A suspended Fort Lupton High School teacher and track coach facing sex assault charges in Adams County today was charged in Weld County as well.
Ray Phillip Brown, 56, of Firestone is accused of numerous incidents of “inappropriately touching” one of his female team members last spring, according to the Weld County District Attorney’s Office.
Brown faces felony sex assault charges in Weld County and similar charges in Adams.
In August, Brown was arrested after a teenaged girl told her parents Brown began rubbing her back and then fondled her while at a track meet in Thornton in May.
The Weld County District Attorney’s Office said today that the latest charges stemmed from the school’s investigation into Brown’s conduct. As school principal Staci Jenks interviewed students, one of Brown’s track athletes said she had been touched by him on numerous occasions between Jan. 1 and May 31.
Brown is free on $10,000 bond.
He has coached the Fort Lupton track team for 10 seasons, according to sports articles written before his arrest.
He is a technology teacher at Fort Lupton High, and records show he has worked at two side businesses, Visionary Internet Solutions and Kiddie Rides USA.
