Colorado Springs police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a sex assault suspect.
The assault happened May 2 at a King Soopers store at 1750 W. Uintah St., according to a Colorado Springs Police Department media release.
Police said a man followed a woman through the store for a few minutes and eventually grabbed her by the neck from behind and fondled her.
The victim hit the man with her elbow and called for help. The suspect fled the store, pushing past several people and jumping over some shopping carts.
He was driven away in a waiting, older, “beat up” American-made sedan, perhaps a red, tan or yellow Chevrolet Caprice.
Police describe the suspect as a white or Hispanic man, in his 20s, about 5-feet, 8-inches tall, with a thin build, short dark hair and a dark goatee. He was wearing a grey hoodie, black t-shirt, blue jeans and white shoes.
If you recognize the man in the photo, or have information about the case, police ask that you call Det. John Ingram at 719 444-7433 or tipsters can remain anonymous by calling 719 444-STOP.
